Description:
Parasitic and/or saprobic on hardwood roots. Prolific late summer and early fall mushroom popping up in lawns and on forest floors in tight clusters that share a basal anchor to the ground which connects to hardwood roots underground. Armillaria tabescens synonym. Note insect larvae in gills.
